The Addis Alem Cooperative Society Ltd. is proud to have reached another milestone when it celebrated its second anniversary. This event was observed on Sunday, 10th July, 2016, with a church service and prize giving ceremony at The Church of Haile Selassie I Temple #1 located at Fortress Hill in the parish of St Thomas, Barbados.
The anniversary celebration was attended by IICA’s representative Mrs. Ena Harvey. The prize giving ceremony saw the awarding of certificates in three categories namely:
- Certificate of Appreciation
- Certificate of Academic Achievement
- President’s Award
The cooperative had found it timely to show our appreciation to some of the organisations who had offered us continued support through the awarding of the Addis Alem Certificate of Appreciation.
The Addis Alem Certificate of Academic Achievement was awarded to selected youths within the local Rastafarian community who had been successful in their recently concluded 11-Plus Examinations. This was envisioned as a means to motivate them to continue to strive for excellence in education.
The Addis Alem President’s Award was conceptualized by the current President Mr. Anthony Nurse as a means to identify and reward a person within the cooperative who has consistently shown cooperative spirit.
The officers and members of the Addis Alem Cooperative extends a heartfelt thank you to all those who made this milestone possible and we look forward to a prosperous future working together in the spirit of cooperation.
